MIDDLE ATLANTIC PRODUCTS EXPANDS INTELLIGENT THERMAL MANAGEMENT PRODUCT LINE WITH INTRODUCTION OF NEW ULTRA QUIET FAN PANEL AT INFOCOMM 2005 LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, June 8, 2005 — Providing integrators with a smart solution for enclosure system thermal monitoring and control for installations wherever fan noise is not an option, Middle Atlantic Products introduces its new Ultra Quiet Fan Panel Series (UQFP) at InfoComm 2005. With an intelligent digital processor that varies fan speed proportionally to internal rack temperature and a remote notification system of fan failure or overheating situations, installers are now able to monitor fan performance regularly, troubleshoot easier and address excessive heat before it becomes a problem. The compact, 2-rackspace panel is available with 2 or 4 ultra quiet fans, making it ideal for schools, board rooms, houses of worship or anywhere people are in the same room as the electronics system. The system contains a remote sensor that gauges enclosure temperature and built-in intelligence that varies fan speed in direct proportion to that temperature level, ensuring fans run only when necessary, minimizing noise and preserving fan life. In addition to its intelligent proportional fan speed functionality, the Ultra Quiet Fan Panel’s smart integral notification system provides local and remote alerts when high heat levels occur or if a fan stops operating. The UQFP features an alphanumeric display screen that shows the enclosure’s temperature and also provides instant scrolling fan failure or over-temperature alert messages. It additionally has the capability of remote communication to external control systems via dry contact closure and allows the installer to set the level at which the rack’s internal temperature will set off the alarm. “Integrators know that the continued operation and effectiveness of digital technologies in an enclosure are contingent on maintaining a safe operating temperature within the enclosure,” explained Bob Schluter, President and CEO, Middle Atlantic Products. “With the introduction today of our new Ultra Quiet Fan Panel Series, we’re providing integrators with a simple but effective way to ensure a safe equipment environment and a reliable installation – even in quiet areas where people and electronics must coexist.” Ultra quiet operation is also essential to ensure that the environment of a specific installation is not impacted by fan noise. The four-fan UQFP unit will never emit more than 27 dB of noise yet has a powerful 100 CFM free air rating. A two fan UQFP unit will not emit more than 24 dB and has a free air rating of 50 CFM. Each UQFP unit comes complete with 9’ temperature sensor with wire ties and is programmed in a Fahrenheit scale standard that can be set to Celsius. In addition, models are available without the display screen that include a more defined feature set. The Ultra Quiet Fan Panel will be featured in Middle Atlantic Products’ interactive thermal management display at this year’s InfoComm.
