| MIDDLE ATLANTIC PRODUCTS VRK RACKS PROVIDE IDEAL SYSTEM SUPPORT FOR COURT TV'S NYC NOC UPGRADE LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, April 18, 2005 — Highlighting its ability to provide robust, cost effective enclosure systems with advanced cable management provisions for the most cutting-edge broadcast facilities, more than 60 Middle Atlantic Products broadcast enclosure systems provide the backbone infrastructure to Court TV’s New York City broadcast center. Court TV recently completed a totally new physical broadcast plant including a new master control room on the 20 th floor of its building on 3 rd Avenue in New York City. Joe Schwinghammer, Vice President of Engineering for Court TV, spearheaded the system design and overall engineering effort. To support the latest and most sophisticated equipment needed to operate the increasingly popular channel, the system designers chose 60 Middle Atlantic Products VRK Series enclosures, including a mix of VRK-44-31 and VRK-44-36 models. “We used other racks in the past, but when we decided to bring all our systems up to state-of-the-art, we wanted the best broadcast enclosures,” said Schwinghammer. ”We chose Middle Atlantic Products because they were easier to work with and paid attention to all the details. Everything from how the doors work to the clearly marked rack rails made using the racks much more efficient. The riser base system that Middle Atlantic Products has developed offers great cable management which helped make the decision easy.” That may have been the only easy thing about the whole facility. Today, Court TV is seen in almost 80 million homes. Yet when it was launched on July 1, 1991, the Court TV center was not built to be a true broadcast facility. As Court TV’s viewership continued to grow and the original facility remained unchanged, it became evident that the existing infrastructure and equipment needed to be upgraded in all aspects, from the building essentials to the technology being used. Ultimately, Court TV decided to find a space that could provide proper air conditioning and power outlets and house a new Network Operations Center (NOC) in their current building in Manhattan. After several venue changes it was decided that the new NOC would be located on the 20 th floor of the original building in Manhattan. The space that was allocated was about 3200 sq. ft. It would contain an electrical room, mechanical room HVAC, a new master control room, equipment center, some Net OP’s support space and a break room. All the broadcast, content management and storage technologies required to run efficiently and effectively are housed in Middle Atlantic Products VRK Series enclosures. UL listed in the US and Canada, the fully-welded Middle Atlantic Products VRK Series is seismic certified (UBC Zone 4) for protecting 1000 lbs. of essential equipment when used in conjunction with Middle Atlantic Products’ VRK-Z4 brackets. With broadcast-standard 22" OD width and 31-1/2" outside depth, the VRK features 14-gauge steel tops & bottoms, 16-gauge seamless steel sides, laser-cut 1/8" thick internal steel braces for strength and can accommodate a 2,500 lb. weight capacity. The unit features horizontal bars with 7" centers for quick "tie-&-slide lacing" and 2 pairs of wider rackrail provide more interior room and a configurable open top accepts a number of top options. Among the other standard features of the broadcast-optimized Middle Atlantic Products VRK Series are grounding and bonding stud, keylocked vented rear door and durable black textured powder coat.About Middle Atlantic Products To request a catalog of Middle Atlantic Products full line of equipment and accessories, visit middleatlantic.com or contact: Middle Atlantic Products, North Corporate Drive, Riverdale, New Jersey 07457; Tel: (800) 266-7225 or (973) 839-1011; Fax: (973) 839-1976.
