New development in White Plains, New York incorporates secure racks for remote monitoring solution

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, April 5, 2006 – Highlighting its ability to provide secure equipment enclosures with advanced cable management features, Middle Atlantic Products and Advanced Video Surveillance, Inc. (AVS) of Fairfield, NJ today announced the successful installation of seven ERK Series enclosures in a new housing development in White Plains, NY. The unique design and features of the ERK enclosures enabled AVS to install the development’s CCTV system across a number of different locations, giving housing development operators an effective way to remotely monitor each housing structure.

To provide optimum security coverage for seven, 10-story apartment buildings, the White Plains Housing Authority called on AVS to outfit each building with an uninterrupted power supply unit, camera power supplies, two digital video recorders and a keyboard and monitor for local maintenance and troubleshooting. AVS chose Middle Atlantic Products’ ERK Series enclosures to mount all of the necessary components in each location, but also to maximize the limited amount of space within each building’s security room.

“We chose the Middle Atlantic Products ERK racks because of their high quality construction and cable management features,” said Michael Riotto of Advanced Video Surveillance. “Their racks have everything we need, they look great and Middle Atlantic Products provides very quick delivery. Considering that our monitoring and access control systems are installed in all kinds of locations, durability and cable management are important elements in choosing the right enclosure.”

The seven, individual ERK enclosures act as on-sight control hubs in each building, yet have been networked so that the White Plains Housing Authority can access data from each building from a remote location. Operators at this location can safely monitor all camera feeds and access controlled entry points and can safely dispatch police or fire units in the case of an emergency.

The networked approach saved the Housing Authority extra money and manpower, and using the ERK enclosures saved AVS from any extra trouble when they began running cable. “The really nice thing about all of Middle Atlantic Products’ enclosures is that they have been manufactured with other aspects of enclosure management in mind,” continued Riotto. “The ERK’s laser knockouts made it easy for us to run cable in and out of each enclosure, plus we have the peace of mind of knowing that the cables won’t be subjected to chafing. In the end, the ERK racks were very easy to work with and we’ll certainly specify them again in the future.”

AVS uses the ERK Series enclosures in many of its security installations because of their variety in the number of rackspaces and ability to accommodate DVRs and camera power supplies as well as monitors and keyboards in a single enclosure.

Additionally, the ERK’s fully welded construction, 16 gauge steel tops, bottoms and sides, internal steel braces and UL Listed 2,500 pound weight capacity made it evident that any equipment contained within would be safe from tampering.
