New intermediate rack is an integrated solution for mounting essential equipment in large, open facilities.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA, March 15, 2007 - As part of its ongoing commitment to provide integrators with full-featured, integrated enclosure systems for any size project, Middle Atlantic Products today introduced its new Intermediate Distribution Rack (IDF) Series at NSCA Expo 2007. Designed to easily mount to building truss and uni-strut, IDF Series Racks are ideal for AV integrators who need to house vital components in warehouses, retail outlets or any large, open facility where cable run distances can become problematic.

With a weight capacity of 150 lbs., IDF Series Racks can be easily mounted to building truss or uni-strut to house hubs, routers, video recorders or other components that are essential to a fully integrated AV and security system. IDF Series enclosures feature robust solutions that account for the essentials of any fully-integrated enclosure system, including: Thermal: two factory-installed 4 1/2" exhaust fans for active thermal management and air intakes at the bottom of the rack to allow cooler air to enter the rack; Cable: conveniently located knockouts for conduit pass-throughs and gland grommets that minimize dust around cable entry locations; and Power: a PD-915R power strip to ensure an adequate number of available outlets and amperage.

"IDF Series Racks make use of the most functional features and accessories from our full-size, commercial enclosures to provide integrators with an integrated intermediate rack," said Jay Franetovich, Application Engineer, Middle Atlantic Products. "These rugged enclosures are designed to minimize heat build-up and dust accumulation and maximize real estate while accounting for all of the essentials - thermal, cable and power management. The IDF Series is a simple solution for remotely situated, active components of an AV system that spans long distances."

IDF Series Racks can be mounted using threaded rods or can be affixed directly to uni-strut. Solid front, rear locking and latched doors are standard on every rack, providing secure access to components housed inside. All IDF Series Racks include a grounding/bonding stud in the top of the enclosure to facilitate proper grounding and bonding of electronic equipment, making them compliant with NEBS and NEC standards. An additional, removable aluminum plate can be machined in the field so that integrators can mount wireless antennae, dome cameras or other components.

IDF Series Racks are 24" deep with 21" of useable depth and are available in 12 and 16 space models. All racks are finished in an inconspicuous, durable, black textured powder coat.
