MIDDLE ATLANTIC PRODUCTS QUIET-COOL SERIES™ SECURITY SURVEILLANCE AND MONITORING CONSOLES MEET DEMANDS OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

Anixter chooses Quiet-Cool Series™ as console for new CCTP initiative.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, March 10, 2003 – Addressing the evolution of security technology toward digital equipment and the growing number of network-based surveillance and monitoring systems, Middle Atlantic Products introduced its Quiet-Cool Series™ security surveillance and monitoring console to the VDV marketplace at the 2003 VDV Expo. The new console offers unprecedented levels of thermal and cable management, equipment access and sound isolation capabilities required to meet the demands of modern security technology.

The company also announced that Anixter has selected the Quiet-Cool Series™ for its new CCTP program. The program provides low-voltage integrators with a complete solution for designing and installing network-based security surveillance and monitoring systems.

IT departments are increasingly becoming responsible for security systems, according to Mark Tracy, Director of Marketing, Middle Atlantic Products. “In almost any installation with a structured cabling system, you will see a security surveillance and monitoring system as well,” Tracy explained today. “That surveillance and monitoring system is more often becoming network-based and therefore falling under the domain of the IT department. That has created a need for a console system that can integrate within a structured cabling system,” added Tracy.

Offering advanced functionality at a competitive price, the Quiet-Cool Series™ console is designed and engineered to meet the demands of today’s technology. With the increasing presence of complex, heat-sensitive digital technology in security applications, an active thermal management system is necessary to keep delicate equipment cool. Filtered air intakes and baffled fan exhausts coupled with air-sealing cable entries and gasketed doors ensure the equipment remains cool, thereby extending product life and reducing maintenance cycles.

Because noise generated by equipment such as DVRs and hard drive arrays could be fatiguing, therefore detrimental to the attention, critical decision-making and monitoring abilities of an operator, Middle Atlantic Products has built sound isolation capabilities into its Quiet-Cool Series™ consoles. These include acoustic damping material on the insides of side panels, gasketing on all doors, quiet-running fans and baffled fan exhausts and air intakes.

“We have designed our new Quiet-Cool Series™ consoles with features to benefit the operator, such as isolation from equipment noise, ergonomics, and aesthetics,” says Bob Schluter, President and Chief Engineer, Middle Atlantic Products. “Equally important, we have engineered the consoles for the installer by addressing thermal and cable management requirements of today’s digital equipment, as well as integrating time-saving installation features.”

The factory-welded 14-gauge steel construction of both the Quiet-Cool and Convective Series™ of Middle Atlantic Products consoles not only provides superior strength, but also makes for quick installation in the field with no assembly required. Combined with the fact that traditionally optional features are standard on Middle Atlantic Products console series, specifying and ordering is extremely simple due to the limited number of sku’s associated with the product.
