MIDDLE ATLANTIC PRODUCTS REDEFINES COOL:
INTRODUCES FC-4 HEAT-ACTIVATED FAN CONTROL
DALLAS, TEXAS, March 13, 2003 – Enabling contractors to incorporate
effective thermal management into the rack enclosure systems they design,
Middle Atlantic Products introduced the UL Listed FC-4 Fan Control at
the 2003 NSCA Expo. By selecting one of three user-selectable temperature
range settings, the FC-4 will trigger fan operation only when a rack’s
internal temperature reaches the preset level. Additionally, the FC-4
controls fan speed proportionally to the temperature, extending fan
life to reduce maintenance while protecting the expensive and sensitive
equipment mounted within.
Available to either mount within the company’s MPR Modular Power
Raceway or as a standalone unit, the Middle Atlantic Products FC-4 is
unique in design, allowing control of up to four 120 volt fans.
The FC-4’s temperature control range can easily be set to trigger
automatically at 80°F, 85°F or 90°F. Fans will run at either
a speed proportional to the internal temperature or automatically at
full speed when the internal temperature reaches the predetermined threshold.
In addition to these automatic proportional speed settings, additional
settings are available, allowing for continuous fan operation or no
operation at all.
Two status LED’s indicate whether the FC-4 is in AUTO or ON mode,
with the ON LED blinking in proportion to the fan’s operating
speed.
“The FC-4 is ideally suited for commercial applications where
electronic equipment is in varying states of operation,” said
Mark Tracy, Director of Marketing, Middle Atlantic Products. “In
most installations, different equipment mounted within a rack system
runs at different times and at varying levels; subsequently a fan that
operates only when necessary can reduce future maintenance while helping
to protect equipment from the adverse effects of heat.”
