Racktools to Configurator transition

Effective May 31, 2017, we will no longer be updating our RackTools software and we will be shifting design support to our web-based Configurator on middleatlantic.com. You will no longer be able to design in RackTools, however, your files can continue to be accessed with the free file viewer software. Although RackTools has been a reliable design platform for over 10 years, our website's design capabilities offer many of the features of RackTools as well as the added ability to generate an official quote, purchase online, and have your rack assembled to match your configuration. You can also access your projects and designs from any browser at any time. We are excited about the features and capabilities of our website Configurator and we will continue to provide optimal support for your design needs.

To help ease in the transition, we have created some helpful resources below. These resources include information on how to transition your projects over to the Configurator. Feel free to contact us any time with any additional assistance you may need.

Why are we moving away from RackTools?

Although RackTools has been the gold standard for over 10 years, we know that the software has its limitations. We are now transitioning users to utilize our web-based configuration tool, the Configurator, which offers features superior to the RackTools experience. With the Configurator, you'll have exclusive access to create, save and view designs on any browser at any time.

When will RackTools stop working?

The RackTools software will be shut down on May 31, 2017. However, you won't lose your designs. You will have access to a RackTools file viewer and you will be able to view your renders on this platform indefinitely.

How will I access my RackTools files after the software stops working?

Once the RackTools software is shutdown, you will have access to your files using the free file viewer software. We can also convert your most frequently used RackTools design files into a middleatlantic.com project at no cost.

What will happen to my custom library of components in RackTools?

Your library can be exported by following these steps:

  • Step 1: Navigate to “File” > “User Defined Products”> “Export” and click “Save As"
  • Step 2: In the “Save As” window, choose the location that you want to store the file
  • Step 3: In the “File name” section of the “Save As” Window, type in the name you have chosen for the file then Click “Save”
Middleatlantic.com includes a library of over 40,000 components as well as the ability for you to create your own components and save them to your user library. If you send us your custom RackTools library, we will analyze its contents for components we have missed in our library. Note: we will only add publicly available components from recognized AV component manufacturers, and only those components that are currently available from those manufacturers.
